I LOVE the layers and tiers and flaps and ruffles (yes i said i liked ruffles...[vom]) of these pieces but I am totally stumped what collection I found them in?! I thought for sure it was Hussein Chalayan circa 2001ish...if anyone recognizes let me know, but I'll keep searching.

Lately I've been finding a lot of inspiration from Hussein Chalayan from the early 2000's collections. Hussein Chayalan's architectural lines on so many pieces really are inspiring...and can be very heavy on the experimental side (remember the wooden table/skirt???) HERE.

I tend to lean quite a bit on architecture for inspiration...my father is an architect so I have to attribute much of this aesthetic obsession to him and our summer night drives looking at "cool buildings and houses!" also his influence on me to go on and study architecture in undergrad.

10th anniversary NYLON digital issue showed up in my EMAILbox this week and I'm super jazzed sitting here cyber-flippin the pages...only halfway through, but check out some highlights thus far...

I love the wedge taking on it's own shape and not just following the lines of the shoe+the liquid silver is super futuristic and great attached to the white strappies.

Tonight was dinner with Dustin-he's currently styling a project in which to incorporate masks...I came across these with him in mind. I Don't Like Mondays is where I found them...created by Shin Murayama who I had never heard of______Lately I have been doing quite a bit of soul-searching (uh hum OBVI) and reading THISTHISTHIS interview with the artist really got my heart a pounding. I feel like he has embraced all the "unknowns/identities" (always been struggles for Muah) of being a creative person. Difficult to express my personal feelings exactly, but pls read the short, sweet and liberating (for me...) philosophies he has on what it means to not know what it means (if you know what I mean).

Aside from my 2am analytics...aren't these masks+model+color+all-else infectious?!

Artist Lynnette Astaire has been asked to do a live adaptation of one of her photography pieces, "Polaroid Funeral" in this year's Art Parade, sponsored by Deitch Gallery and Paper Magazine. The theme is funeral, similar to a New Orleans funeral march, but in a glamorous/stylized way.

My typical stroll home involves regular celebrity sightings btwn the backdoor of Roseland Ballroom and of the David Letterman Show. A few weeks back, what's usually a crowd-battling annoyance-this time I was star struck for realz. Madonna and JT were practicing for their performance and one particularly generous security guard opened the back door for the five of us who had been drawn to the dirty bass heard on 53st. Inside were the two wigglin their thangs. AWESOME...at a level of much higher awesomeness than below. Props for the moves and special effects, but kinda a half assed job on the track don't you think? Regardless, Madonna you're one to admire, and you too JT.

So last night I watched this entire event unfold as I exited Antik on Bowery. So glad I decided to bring my camera out that night. This screen-printed mess aggressively jumped out of the Infiniti, kicked over the garbage can proceeded to pee on it while his buddy in the car burned rubber in place for an entire 5 mins. I'd like to think they were blasting trance music, but I can't confirm. Seriously the stars aligned at this very moment and may possibly be the most mind-blowing experience I have ever had, not to mention my inability to stop laughing allllllllll day today. Recently Adam and I were sent on a blog assignment at the Caribou show in W'burg. A long time fan, honestly didn't know what to expect from these guys. Their music is super layered, and involved, which was amazingly successful live. Seriously. Awesome. The frontman, Dan Snaith, averages playing on at least two instruments...don't know when Caribou will be around again (maybe summer stage in C.Park?) but HIGHLY recommend them.

Last fall I attended the Cotton Inc. Denim finishing workshop through work. Learned all about America's most sought after bottoms from the picking to the sanding. Denim is constantly reinventing itself, which Cotton did just that for the upcoming fall season...introducing...STORM DENIM. It is exactly what it sounds...storm fighting denim. In other words, waterproof. Yet maintaining a breathability and attractive feel to the touch. Really this denim is no different from your regular old Levi's. One of my current favorites, Alexander Wang, picked up the new innovation in his a/w '08 line. Check out the demonstration he does for us.

After a recent visit to Sweet Paradise (scan down for the "ah-ha" and check his site for a wonderful gallery of his work) I was reminded of artist Patrick Nagel-most famous for Duran Duran's album cover, but also a major contributor to old-school Playboy. His Art Deco undertones to an otherwise "80's woman" are fantastic. I'm trying to get my hands on a one of his posters, which come with a rather high pricetag. Nonetheless I will continue to obsess.

Went to see She & Him on Tues. after Mon. nights show was cancelled, for their first show in NYC. Despite She having lost her voice, Miss Deschanel pulled off a wonderful Ella Fitzgerald inspired show. I can't get enough of their flirty innocence. She actually curtsied several times. After a little hiatus spent soul-searching I'm back into the blogosphere...sorry to all yous, but I have some new info. for you to ponder. This weeks fashion lesson, or today's rather, is unisex dressing. And not in the American Apparel heathered grey t-shirt way....After reading an Oslo fashion blog, I noticed in many of the fasjonabel fotos there was an abundance of April 77 jeans. I dove right into Google and found this amazing French line that hit unisex dressing right on trend for the upcoming season Unisex design/clothing has never been sexier. Love the palette and the silhouettes. Thinkin bout designing some unisex wear myself for 2008.

She being Zooey Deschanel & Him being M. Ward, have collaborated their love for early 20th century pop into the birth of their new band, "She&Him". Zooey brings her harmonizing abilities from childhood choirs while Ward supports her with his acoustic skills on the guitar. The duet keeps things real by making music the old-fashioned way using only their hands, and as few machines as possible. The result of these twos efforts is Volume One.

Hit up the Mac counter last night to check out the new Fafi line which is completely sold out aside from a few stragglers pictured above. The colors are super fun and perfect for spring, I picked up some new magenta lips complimented w yellow and smokey olive eyes. The entire palette is available in the norm Mac cosmetics, so just no cute Fafi girls, oh well.

If you haven't had enough Saturday night wiggling in the club head over to the mpd for NERO brunch. Peroni's by the plenty. Dirty bass-heavy tracks. Tasty benedict and a sweet hostess with the mostess. But don't wear tights or nylons of any sort bc the wooden chairs are not sanded well and promote disasters that fingernail polish can't stand up to. Espec. if they're american apparel's overpriced, lacking-in-quality tights. Not sure if I'll come back to this place.

Spring Awakening

Leaving work today I felt a sudden spring awakening...grasped the feeling, marched over to the YSL counter and picked up a nice berry shade to rein in the new season. I decided to walk home (20 strts N 5 aves W) so wearing my new #28 Rouge Pure Shine I made the trek in my 5" stacked CK's nearly offing my feet (thnks to my Dr. Scholl's I avoided this), but my heels didn't make out too well. I've hit metal and it's time to visit my guy over on 35th and Madison with my tail btwn my legs. Happy almost spring xx.
